Whether you want to volunteer for a few hours or are looking for an ongoing opportunity to make real change, there are many ways to support our guests at Family Promise Metrowest.

At Our Congregations

Every evening, our families are sheltered in congregations where classrooms are converted to bedrooms for families and meals are provided by volunteers. Families move every Sunday to a new congregation in the Metrowest area, offering our volunteers opportunities to support our families close to home.

Meal Preparation: Like to cook? You can prepare a meal at home with your family or friends to deliver to a host congregation.

Dinner Hosting: If you’d like to meet our families, we invite volunteers to stay for dinner and share the evening with our guests and their children.

Room Set-Up or Break-Down: Energetic adults and teens are always needed in our congregations to break down guest bedrooms on Sunday mornings or to set up bedrooms on Sunday afternoons.

Overnight Hosts: Since Family Promise Metrowest hospitality extends throughout the night, two adult volunteers are needed to sleep at the host congregation each night.

Laundry: On Sunday, volunteers take the guests’ bed linens home to wash and prepare for the congregation’s next host week.

At Our Day Center

Our offices and family day center are in Natick Center. The day center is our families’ home during their stay at Family Promise Metrowest. It’s where they keep their belongings, meet with case managers, get ready for their day at work or school, and relax on the weekends. . Volunteers are needed in our day center to provide administrative and friendly support when our staff is not available. There are many ways to help out:

Office Volunteers: On the weekends, adult volunteers answer the phone, do activities with children, and are a welcoming presence for our guests. During the week, we often seek assistance in the office with mailings, covering the phones, or administrative projects.

Professional Expertise for Our Families: Volunteers often share their professional skills with our families. If you want to have a direct impact, you can help with resume writing or tutoring for ESL or HiSET courses. The possibilities are endless.

Professional Expertise for Family Promise Metrowest: As a growing nonprofit, we have benefited from volunteers in our network offering professional skills in marketing, design, architecture, and accounting. If you have an expertise, let us know how you’d like to help.

At Our Events

FPM has two annual fundraising events that rely on the support of an incredible events committee. If you would like to be part of this enthusiastic group, vital in the planning and execution of our “Keep the Promise” auction in November and the annual Walkathon in April, please let us know!
