Danays Fernandez

Community Outreach Coordinator

Danays is a long-time Natick resident. She has always been very passionate about helping others whether through volunteering, supporting family and friends, or working directly with people of all levels and backgrounds. She is a proud Latina from Caracas, Venezuela.

After leaving Venezuela, Danays started her professional career working in one of the four largest global accounting firms in Boston, MA. She spent more than a decade in global internal audit, public accounting, and customer support with an emphasis on risk assessments, control evaluation, compliance, and process improvement. She has worked and served Fortune 500 publicly traded and private companies across financial, insurance, and service industries. While in those roles, she was actively involved in community services, professional career events, and employee resources groups to represent her companies.

Despite her rewarding financial career, she put it on hold to focus on raising her child. However, she remained active in the workforce by joining the Framingham school district as a Bilingual Title I Interventionist for the Transitional Bilingual Education program. She provided support to newcomer and native Spanish-speaking elementary students in literacy, math, language learning process, and transitional needs. During the pandemic, she transitioned to a wider district support role to help families and staff navigate the evolving COVID-19 guidelines and safety protocols as well as access available community services and resources. She also served as a volunteer for the Natick English Learner Parent Advisory Council and for the Natick Public Schools district translation services. She worked across four schools, providing support with translations and interpretations for Spanish-speaking families to ensure children could access to online learning and other important resources during the pandemic.

The interaction with the families and students sparked her passion for advocating for injustices in the community. She recognized she could bring her exceptional skills and extensive background in project management, process improvement, and unparalleled customer service to the Community Engagement Coordinator at FPM. Besides her professional skills, Danays brings her multicultural mindset and passion for building effective relationships, helping, engaging, and connecting others, while supporting the mission and values at FPM.
